An insurance investigator goes to Mince, a small town hit by a tornado, to determine how much the storm will cost his company. What he discovers is that opportunity for good is often couched in tragedy and that bad things have a redeeming value of their own. How people react to the storm demonstrates the contrast between hope and despair and there is much theological conversation to explain why bad things happen to good people. The main character is a Christian protagonist who presents his worldview toward tragedy while his interns demonstrate their reaction to it. In the end, their actions demonstrate what they make of his instruction.
